SOUTH OGDEN, Utah Police have a suspect in custody after a bank robbery in South Ogden.

South Ogden Police say the Key Bank at 3775 S. Wall Ave was robbed Friday afternoon.

Police say the 45-year-old suspect threatened to kill employees inside the bank. He forced everyone to the back, took money, and then drove away in his Wrangler Rubicon.

Officers chased him into Davis County and then back into Weber County where he crashed his vehicle near 4400 West 2550 South.

"The suspect at that time car jacked a female near the location," said Marcie Edwards with South Ogden Police. "He pointed a gun at her and left not harming her."

Police later found the hijack Jeep Cherokee near 3800 Raymond Avenue, and the suspect was running through the area. He eventually found a home and tried to go inside.

He pointed a weapon at the homeowner, but the young father was ready to protect his family and fought the man off with a baseball bat.

The suspect with the gun was eventually forced outside, and police say at this point he pointed his weapon at the officers and the officers fired at the suspect.

He was hit three times in the lower left abdomen, and then neighbors say police handcuffed the man and put him in and ambulance where he was transported to the hospital.

Police are not releasing the suspects name at this time, and they say he is recovering at McKay Dee Hospital.

No one else was seriously injured.
